SHEARIE ARCHER NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy Board of Directors appointed Shearie Archer as the new executive director.  Serving the community for 10 years, the charitable pharmacy is a non-profit organization that provides life-sustaining prescription medication to persons with severely limited income and resources.  Medications are offered free of charge to qualifying individuals.

“We are delighted to have Mrs. Archer at the Pharmacy,” said Vernon Coleman, chairman of the board. “She brings a wide spectrum of expertise that will facilitate our needs to strengthen our Charitable Pharmacy’s strategic planning, finance and administration, fundraising and communications.”

Archer, a native Mobilian, has also served on the volunteer boards of professional and community organizations, such as the American Cancer Society.  She is a member of the Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA) and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).  While working with the Bay Area Food Bank, Mrs. Archer served on the National Organization America Second Harvest, now known as Feeding America’s Marketing and Branding Team.  She was also member of the National office 2007 Farm Bill Team where she aided in encouraging the authorization of important legislation to increase Food Stamp provisions and increase commodities to the nation food bank network.  Mrs. Archer is a graduate of the Mobile 2006 Leadership Class.  Archer earned a B.S. in Communication Arts at the University of Montevallo.

“I am so proud to join the team at the Ozanam Pharmacy, said Mrs. Archer, “With rising cost of health insurance, food and gas, economic times have become more challenging for the working poor and people living at or below the poverty line.  Affordable Health care does not exist for the 47 million Americans who are uninsured.   No one should have to choose between food and medicine that is why Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy is more vital to the health of our community.”
